18th-25th January is the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity and there is a United Service at S. Mary's on Sunday 22nd January at 6.30pm

CHURCHYARD AWARD SCHEME

On Saturday morning, 19th November, eight members of our team went to Blymhill to receive a Bronze Award. The Ven. Chris Liley, Archdeacon of Lichfield, presented the awards and was Guest Speaker. He gave a very interesting talk on Churchyards and said that the Diocese was most appreciative of all the work done in maintaining historic churchyards - 'sacred places' - to be nature-friendly sites.

Our own churchyard has hedgehogs, moles (!), birds - which have nested in our new boxes, butterflies, fungi, lots of wild flowers, lichen, etc.

We have a unique record of photographs depicting life in our churchyard in this year 2011, displayed in a lovely album at the back of the church. Please do have a look.

I would like to thank the team for all their sterling work in achieving this award.
