Once again we had the task of running the cake stall at the Autumn Market. We had lots of beautiful cakes for sale and every single item was sold. This raised £171.70 for church funds (£20 more than last year.) Many thanks to everyone who contributed to this excellent result.

We do not have our regular meeting in November but the Mothers Union Diocesan Council is meeting in Ellesmere Town Hall on 8 November (not 15 November as stated in the programme). The speaker for the afternoon session, which begins at 1.45 pm, will be Fiona Thomas, Communications Officer, Mary Sumner House and all members are welcome to attend.

Tickets are now available for our Christmas Party on Monday, 13 December at the La Belle Vie. This consists of 3-course meal, with a complimentary glass of sherry for a price of £11 (with £1 discount for MU members). As always, non-members will be very welcome.

I have been trying for some time to interest younger women in Mothers’ Union and have met with some success and hope to set up a programme of evening meetings. There will be a meeting on 18 November in St John’s Room at 7.30 pm to discuss this. While this meeting is primarily aimed at younger women, all members are, of course, welcome to attend.
